How to become an AK-1 DMAT Member

The Alaska-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team is made up of medical and non-medical personnel who train in order to respond quickly to natural and man-made disasters.

We are actively looking for new members, both healthcare providers and non-medical. A brief list of positions include: Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses Practitioners, Registered Nurses paramedics, Pharmacists,  Pharmacy Assistants, EMT's, Administrative Personnel, Mechanics, Lab Technicians, Logistics personnel, Radio/Communications Specialists, Information Technology Specialists and others. Our primary mission is medical response during a disaster.  The non-medical positions on the team have been carefully chosen to provide support and to maintain and enhance the operation of our medical care capabilities.

Potential members are encouraged to attend a training meeting and see for yourself if this is something you might be interested in. From time to time, a DMAT/NDMS 101 class is taught that provides a complete overview of the National Disaster Medical System, how it actually works, and the part that you might play as a member. There is also an opportunity for a team member to answer your specific questions.
