Notice of a significant training event that may result in a need for NDMS assets. Advisories are for informational purposes only.

The Field Training Exercise (FTX) planning is getting ready to shift into high gear. Paul Brooks and Don Norvell are cooking up a great learning experience. We will be setting up and operating the Base of Operations (BoO) and working on Strike Team deployment.  Steve Heyano has arranged for AeroMed to fly in with their King Air and is working on Life Guard to get a helicopter.

Dont forget to ask your family, friends or anyone that may be interested in joining AK-1 to join us for a BBQ on Saturday August 9 stating around 5:45 PM. If you been to an FTX you know Susan Bury puts on a great feed.

Mark your calendars for Saturday & Sunday August 9th and 10th. Exercise briefing starts at 9:00 AM coffee is served around 8:30.

Welcome to our site.

Thank you for your interest in your Alaska1 (AK-1) Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT)

AK-1 DMAT

AK-1 is a group of your friends and neighbors from all over Alaska that have volunteered their time to prepare and stand ready to provide medical  assistance in the event of a disaster, both natural - such as Hurricane Katrina, or man made - like the terrorism that occurred on September 11th 2001.  Your team is able to field a 35 person field medical facility that is able to operate independently and without re-supply for up to 72 hours.

This requires more then just medical personnel, our membership includes folks from varied occupations and skill levels such as, administration, security, communications, logistics, maintenance and more.

National Disaster Medical System (NDMS)

Although we are a group of volunteers.  Your team is organized as part of  the National Disaster Medical System.  Across the country there are over 70 DMAT teams having the same equipment and capabilities as your Alaska team, allowing us the flexibility to replace teams that have been deployed or to provide individuals to fill in on other teams if needed.

We need you!

Please feel free to browse our site for more in depth information about who we are and what we do.  If you are interested in becoming a member just click on this paragraph for more information.
